kickin it peruvian style

as you all know, i love the lists. and as i have very little mental energy right now, i shall bless you with some peruvian basics.

1. my new host family is adorable. evonne, gustavo, and their two kids, dani and ronny are super chevere. (aka very cool.) we're gonna have fun together.
2. peru is fuhreeeeezing! ok, not really freezing. but, i would say there are about 4 hours of sunshine and happiness. the evenings, nights, and mornings are a frigid experience. remind me never to live here. but, hey, i can take a 2 month visit.
3. men here are short. all of them. so, i've quickly dismissed friends suggestions of finding myself a peruvian man. too bad.
4. good thing i like bread and rice, cuz i think that's gonna be the standard. ecuador prepared me well.
5. my host fam lives a very modest life. i'm glad i'm getting the real peruvian experience, not some high-class fake trip. all four of them are sharing one room, with two beds pushed together for all of them. they, of course, saved the two nicest rooms in their house for me and another volunteer who has not yet arrived. they have no refrigerator, no real stove. (just the campfire kind.) we peeled potatoes today with our fingernails. it was kinda fun.
6. good thing i have ¨buena tripa¨ or, a ¨good gut¨ cuz i drank some water from the tap yesterday. i just HAD to swallow some tylenol (yay peruvian periods) and i didn´t know where the boiled water was kept. but, no sickness. i´m as healthy as a horse.

i'll try to keep you guys posted. peace!
